What Do Farragut Residents Really Think?
A community survey invites residents to weigh in on transparency, property rights, and public participation.
Over the past several months, many residents have reached out asking for something simple:
A structured way to share their thoughts about Town policies, outside of social media comment threads, private emails to officials and speaking at town meetings.
Some wanted a format that wasn’t tied to algorithms.
Some wanted something more organized than a three-minute public forum slot.
Others simply wanted their feedback documented clearly.
So here it is…
An independent community survey has been created specifically for Town of Farragut residents to gather input on transparency, communication, public participation, and several specific policies that have generated discussion in our community.

The survey will close March 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM (EDT).
Important Transparency Notes
The survey is not anonymous.
Individual responses will not be shared publicly.
Public reporting will be done in aggregate form only.
If the Town of Farragut wishes to verify that participants live within town limits and review responses, they will be provided:
Name
Street name (not full address)
Survey responses
Personal identifying information will be provided separately from survey responses and not in the same order as the questions.
Survey metadata will also be preserved and made available so that the Town can verify that no responses have been altered. Transparency works both ways.
What the Survey Covers
The goal is not to advocate for one outcome. It’s to measure where residents actually stand.
Some of the questions include:
Property Rights & Eminent Domain
Residents are asked whether they agree or disagree with the Town using eminent domain to acquire private property for projects such as greenways, parks, sidewalks, and related infrastructure — and how concerned they are about potential impacts to property rights.
Public Speech & Citizen Forums
Questions ask whether residents believe:
The Town should restrict or moderate comments on Town-managed platforms that function as public forums.
Citizens should be able to openly criticize Town decisions, as long as speech is lawful.
Access to Public Records
The survey asks about:
Whether video footage from public areas of Town Hall should generally be available upon request.
Whether public email records should be provided in their original electronic format when available.
Home-Based Business Ordinance
Residents are asked whether they agree or disagree with implementing regulations that govern home-based businesses operating in residential neighborhoods.
Community Priorities
The survey also asks residents to rank issues most important to them, including:
Property rights
Transparency
Infrastructure and roads
Responsible growth
Parks and greenways
Taxes and spending
Public safety
***There are also open-ended questions where residents can raise concerns not listed.
Why Participation Matters
This survey is not about creating division.
It’s about documentation.
If you agree with current policies — take it.
If you disagree — take it.
If you’re unsure — take it.
The more residents who participate, the clearer the picture becomes.
A town functions best when its leaders and its residents both have accurate information about where the community stands.
If you live within the Town of Farragut limits, please consider taking a few minutes to participate and feel free to share the link with 5 other Farragut residents.
The survey closes March 31!
Let’s make sure every perspective has a chance to be counted.
